Mitt Romney has been saying that he will announce his vice-president’s choice “soon”. Well, if you want to be the first to know, Marc Caputo on the Miami Herald Blog, quoted a press release that announced,”Romney for President today launched a new mobile app that will allow users to sign up to be the first to learn the identity of the 2012 Republican Vice Presidential candidate.” You can find more details on in the blog, Mitt Romney’s V.P. pick? There’s an app for that.
There is no shortage of speculation on who are on the shortlist. Kalyani Shankar discusses the options on Who is going to be Mitt Romney’s VP? The choices could be (1) someone who can delivery a swing state, (2) a game-changer or (3) a safe, broadly acknowledged person with a low risk. The article is thoughtful and insightful.
My parody of Romney, the Juggler-In-Chief (or JIC), shows him juggling the following:
- Ohio Sen. Rob Portman
- former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty
- Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana
- Florida Sen. Marco Rubio
- former Secretary of State Condi Rice
- New Hampshire Sen. Kelly Ayotte
- Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi
I realized that I have left out some prominent names mentioned on some websites, but that goes to show you how murky the waters are on this subject. However, the first four on my list above are speculated to be on the “short-short list”.
Even Dick Cheney popped up to give his advice,
“Romney needs good VP pick”. His contention that Sarah Palin was a bad pick by John McCain ruffled a few feathers!
