Boehner Is Superman
The news that the “supermoon” for 2013 will be peaking this weekend on June 23rd, caused me to reminise on my previous post on John Boehner. Back in January, I called Boehner a Superman when he managed to get the House to approve a compromise bill averting the fiscal cliff.
Boehner No Superman
Since then, according to Jason Easley of politicususa.com John Boehner Refuse(d) to Allow the House to Vote on Sequester Replacement Bill. Moreover, there is the recent failure to pass the Farm Bill. According to the New York Times, the Farm Bill’s Fate in House Bodes Ill for Immigration Reform.
It seems that the only major bills that the House can pass are Republican “symbolic” bills that have no change of being approved by the Senate or signed by President Obama such as to repeal the entire Affordable Care Act (AKA Obamacare). This was the third vote for full repeal, and the 37th overall vote the House has taken to disrupt, dismantle, defund or repeal parts of the Affordable Care Act. The other bill they spent weeks on was the House GOP approve(d) sweeping anti-abortion bill, as reported by Steve Benen in The Maddow Blog of MSNBC.
Is Boehner a Superman? See the movie, Superman: Man of Steel and let me know what you think.
